Alex Walmsley addresses Mark Percival incident as St Helens duo share heated moment

It's fair to say it was all going off in the aftermath of Leeds Rhinos' victory over St Helens. Not only did the final minutes feature a red card and a last-gasp drop goal, but Saints fans were arguing with Leeds Rhinos players and coaches amid a number of other incidents.

But some eagle-eyed viewers noticed another incident involving St Helens stars Alex Walmsley and Mark Percival. The duo appeared to be involved in a heated exchange in the immediate aftermath of the result, with Saints centre Percival appearing irate following the full-time hooter.

England prop Walmsley could be seen speaking to his teammate in what was an animated conversation between the pair. That resulted in many questioning what had happened and if there had even been a bust-up between the pair, with Percival visibly telling Walmsley to 'get off' him.

Walmsley, however, was quick to nip that in the bud following the game. Speaking to Rugby League Live, the Saints ace said: "Look, obviously we were disappointed, but there was no falling out.

"Percy is very passionate and emotional and unfortunately, we were on the end of a tough result. But that's it, there was definitely no falling out, we're good mates. I think sometimes emotion gets the best of us and obviously we were really disappointed with the result at the end. But sometimes you've just got to take a piece of humble pie and we move on."

Though frustrated, Walmsley insisted Saints would bounce back as they turn their attentions to Leigh Leopards, who opened their account with an impressive win over Hull KR.

"At the end of the day we're not a different team off the back of a disappointing result. We're still a good side and sometimes you've just got to cop them on the chin. One thing I know about this group is that we'll move on and definitely respond better next week."
