Alex Valle 'opted against' Celtic transfer buy option in loan switch

Alex Valle reportedly opted against the option of a buy clause being inserted in his deal to join Celtic on loan.

The Barcelona full-back, 20, signed for Celtic on a season-long loan agreement in the summer.

However, according to reports in Spain, Celtic were keen to have the option to sign the defender permanently after his loan.

Celtic have enjoyed success with loan to buy agreements in recent years with Daizen Maeda joining initially on loan, Paulo Bernardo signing after a stint in Glasgow and Jota doing the same after an initial loan from Benfica.

Hansi Flick is thought to have been keen to keep Valle at Barcelona this season to offer increased flexibility in his squad with the player highly rated.

However, the loan to Celtic was agreed in order to allow Valle to develop with the hope of regular game time in Glasgow.

Sport 45 claim that Celtic were interested in a purchase option being negotiated to allow them first choice on whether to sign Valle on permanent terms.

The report claims Parkhead officials were keen to negotiate a fee should they wish to trigger a full-time switch for the starlet.

However, it's claimed Valle and his representatives opted against the option being inserted in his loan switch.

Instead, Valle is said to be keen to remain in control of his future beyond his loan in Scotland

The defender signed a contract renewal at Barcelona after his temporary exit was finalised with two years on his deal in Spain.

The outlet does report, though, that Valle's transfer release clause remains low.
