Alex Telles opens up on Manchester United exit as he explains Sevilla 'strategy'

Manchester United loanee Alex Telles has revealed his strategy after departing his parent club this summer.

With the arrival of Tyrell Malacia to Old Trafford, Erik ten Hag opted to shift Telles out on loan to La Liga side Sevilla with Luke Shaw being seen as the natural competition for the left-back role.

Since moving to Spain, Telles has managed to become a regular in Julen Lopetegui's side. The 29-year-old has featured in both his natural left-back position as well as on the left side of midfield.

Once Telles returns to United he will have just one year remaining on his current contract and the Brazilian has opened up on his plan now that he is playing in La Liga. "I think it was a good strategy (going to Sevilla) when it comes to an important year for all of us athletes," he explained to Globo Esporte.

"I declare both the Premier League and La Liga as two of the great championships in the world. But I’m at a very big club too; Sevilla have a very good structure.

"I also had contact with the coach (Lopetegui), who called me, and I thought it was a very good opportunity. I feel really good."

Considering the form of Malacia, Telles' future at Old Trafford is in question and a permanent move away from the Theatre of Dreams could be on the horizon upon his return to Manchester.
