Alex Scott, Germany international and transfer bargain Ange Postecoglou and Tottenham could sign

Ange Postecoglou's time as Celtic head coach highlighted that he has quite the eye for a player. Kyogo Furuhashi and Reo Hatate were the undoubted success stories from his transfer dealings after joining from Japanese clubs Vissel Kobe and Kawasaki Frontale respectively, with Matt O'Riley also thriving at Celtic Park after moving from League One side MK Dons.

Tottenham will be hoping that the Australian can have a similar impact in the transfer market this summer as Spurs need to find a way to get back on track and rise up the league table once again. One area the club could look to tap into is the wealth of talent currently playing in the English Football League.

Crystal Palace duo Eberechi Eze and Michael Olise have both thrived in the Premier League after the Eagles plucked them from QPR and Reading respectively, with a number of tops clubs now eyeing them up after starring for Palace in the top flight. Tottenham themselves also enjoyed great success with Dele Alli after he played a major role in Mauricio Pochettino's Spurs team following his switch from MK Dons in 2015.

So, aside from James Maddison and Harvey Barnes, who have both been linked with moves to Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, are there any players currently in the English Football League who would be good signings for Tottenham? football.london takes a look.

Alex Scott - Bristol City

One player who has been linked with a move to Tottenham Hotspur Stadium this summer is Bristol City ace Alex Scott. The midfielder has earned rave reviews over the past couple of seasons and he looks destined for a move to the Premier League in the very near future.

Interested parties will have to pay out a big fee to sign the 19-year-old, though, as City boss Nigel Pearson stated last season that clubs would need to offer more than £25 million for the Guernsey-born ace. The attacking midfielder, who is a Tottenham fan, is excellent in possession, a progressive ball carrier and an extremely confident dribbler with an eye for a pass.

football.london understands Tottenham have asked to be kept apprised of the situation with the Bristol City ace. The Lilywhites certainly won't have it all their own way if they move for the youngster.

Ronnie Edwards - Peterborough United

As defence is very much a priority position for Tottenham in the transfer market this summer, Ronnie Edwards is one player the club may want to consider for the future. The 20-year-old centre-back has earned plenty of plaudits playing for League One side Peterborough United and has come to the attention of a number of Premier League clubs as a result.

Linked with Spurs, Chelsea and West Ham previously, Edwards appears on course to depart Posh ahead of the new season after they surrendered a 4-0 lead against Sheffield Wednesday and crashed out of the League One play-off semi-finals as the Owls went on to win promotion. Another tipped for a bright future in the Premier League, Edwards, just like Bristol star Scott, knows Tottenham duo Alfie Devine and Dane Scarlett very well after representing the England national team at under-19 and under-20 levels over the past year or so.

Playing as a left-sided centre-back for Peterborough and comfortable playing out from the back, Edwards ticks plenty of boxes for Tottenham.

Ismaila Sarr- Watford

Tottenham will have to take a look at bringing in a new winger this summer following the departures of Lucas Moura and Arnaut Danjuma. Already having some excellent options in attack, Spurs cannot leave themselves too short out wide.

Linked with a move to Tottenham in the past, Watford winger Ismaila Sarr would offer Postecoglou choice as he can play right across the frontline. Mainly operating on the right wing, the 25-year-old contributed with ten goals and six assists for the Hornets last season.

As Watford didn't bounce back and gain promotion to the Premier League at the first time of asking, Sarr could well find himself on the move this summer. Valued at £13m by CIES Football Observatory, the Senegal ace, who has Premier League experience under his belt, wouldn't cost the biggest of fees as he is out of contract next summer and he would be a very good option to provide cover.

Wilfried Gnonto - Leeds

Another winger who would tick a number of boxes for Tottenham is Leeds United's Wilfried Gnonto. Following the West Yorkshire club's relegation to the Championship, the Italian international will very likely be playing his football elsewhere next season.

Signed for a bargain fee of £3.8m, Leeds will already make an instant profit on the exciting attacker after he came to the attention of many with some very impressive displays for the Whites. Contributing with four goals and four assists last term, Gnonto mainly operated on the left wing but he also played centrally and on the right for Leeds.

The 19-year-old is valued at £27m by CIES Football Observatory.

Armel Bella-Kotchap - Southampton

Southampton could also be set to lose some big names this summer following their relegation to the Championship. With Romeo Lavia and James Ward-Prowse likely to be heading out the exit door, the duo may well be joined by centre-back Armel Bella-Kotchap.

The German international, who was signed from VFL Bochum, is another player destined for an exciting future and he was rewarded for his form at Southampton with a call-up to the national team. The 21-year-old, who is right footed, really could shine alongside a more experienced defender who could help guide him along.

Already boasting some Premier League experience and with plenty more to come from him over the coming years, Bella-Kotchap could prove to be a very good addition for a top-flight club this summer.
