Gio van Bronckhorst insists Alex Lowry has a big future at Rangers as he revealed talks over a new deal for the midfielder starlet.
Newcastle United have been linked with the 19-year-old who has made his first team breakthrough at Ibrox this season.
Lowry made a scoring debut on his top team bow in the 4-0 Scottish Cup win over Stirling Albion at the start of the year.
And he has made three further appearances for van Bronckhorst’s side with the Lanarkshire kid regarded as one of the moist promising youngsters at the club.
However, there are doubts over his long term future at Ibrox with his contract set to expire next year and talks reportedly stalling.
But the Ibrox boss, speaking ahead of Saturday's trip to Motherwell, said: “Alex (Lowry) is one of our big talents coming through the Academy and we are in talks with him. He will be an important player for the future.”
