Welsh TV hosts, and former boyfriend and girlfriend, Alex Jones and Steve Jones were reunited on The One Show this evening, Tuesday, July 4.
The Formula 1 frontman, who is from Ferndale in Rhondda, was on the BBC evening show to promote his first novel, Call Time, and was being quizzed by Ammanford's Alex about the book and also his role hosting motor-racing. The Welsh presenters dated for three years between 1999 and 2002, and split after Steve stood in for her for an interview with an A-lister.
But the pair seemed to have put their past firmly behind them sharing a friendly exchange on the sofa with Alex saying she was hooked on the novel.
"You're definitely good at writing, I've read a bit of the book and I'm hooked, " she said, with Steve challenging her with 'What page are you on, Jones?". Call Time was partly inspired by a tragic childhood incident, the death of Steve's best mate Chris. You can hear more from Steve on that in our big interview, here.
Earlier this year, Alex opened up on the awkward situation with Steve on the Dish podcast, telling hosts Nick Grimshaw and Angela Harnett that Steve had claimed to a production company that she was ill when she was actually out shopping and she missed out on the opportunity to interview Angelina Jolie. "Normally they would call in the morning and ask to come and do an interview or a junket," she explained. "I was staying in [Steve's] flat at the time when I was working in London.
"He picked up the landline and said 'Al's not here. She's not feeling well, she's had to go back to Cardiff'. I was in Topshop. So he did the interview."
