Alex Jones opened The One Show on Tuesday, November 8 solo. The Welsh presenter, who usually sits on the famous green sofa with either Ronan Keating, Jermaine Jenas or Ronan Kemp, revealed she would be presenting the episode without her co-stars.
Prior to the BBC programme airing, Alex took to Instagram to let viewers and fans know about the shake-up. The 45-year-old posted a video of her in the studio playing Celine Dion's All By Myself with the caption: "Flying solo tonight on @bbctheoneshow".
Alex then opened the show alone and explained co-star Jermaine's absence. The host, who hails from Ammanford, said: "It's just me tonight, look, because Jermaine is still busy with our Surprise Squad.

"They're underway with the first of their epic set of challenges for Children in Need and later, we'll be introducing you to another member of the amazing team."
However, Alex's loneliness was shortlived as she was soon joined on the star-filled sofa by Jenna Coleman, Aidan Turner and Ben Miller - who turned out to be welcome company for the presenter. As the Victoria and Poldark stars, who were there to promote their new play Lemons Lemons Lemons Lemons Lemons, joined the mother-of-three - who was sporting a white jumper with black bows on it -in the studio, Alex said to them: "So nice to have some company in the studio!"
The Surprise Squad is The One Show's fundraising challenge - the second year it has run - for Children In Need and, as stated by the Children In Need website, the 'squad' is "Made up of five inspirational young people who have benefitted from BBC Children in Need funding, the Surprise Squad members are lending a hand as part of a series of challenges to give back to others being supported by BBC Children in Need.
"Joined by The One Show presenters, Alex Jones, Ronan Keating and Jermaine Jenas, the Surprise Squad will head to three locations around the country where they will complete surprise challenges for BBC Children in Need funded projects. Whether that’s creating a sensory area for children living with disabilities or building a brand new space for a bereavement project the Squad will deliver their surprises and complete them within just two days."
The results of their hard work will be seen from Thursday, November 10, confirmed Alex on the show. Watch The One Show on BBC1 Mondays to Fridays at 7pm. For more showbiz and television stories get our newsletter here.
