Alesha Dixon to 'take over' TV as she lands big BBC and ITV roles for Christmas and New Year

Alesha Dixon will 'take over' TV during the Christmas and New Year period, after being snapped up for numerous primetime shows by both BBC and ITV.

It's been two decades since Alesha first shot to fame as a member of Mis-Teeq, the girl group famous for hits like All I Want, One Night stand and Scandalous, but her star rose to new heights when she appeared as a contestant on Strictly in 2007, going onto win the much loved show alongside pro partner Matthew Cutler.

Alesha then caused an even bigger stir when she made a return to Strictly a few years later as a judge, as long-serving panellist Arlene Phillips was given the boot, in a move which saw the BBC hit with accusations of ageism. These days, Alesha is best known for being a judge on Britain's Got Talent, being on the ITV show for a decade now.

And it was on BGT special The Ultimate Magician, that Alesha made one of her first of many TV appearances between now and the end of her year, having been a contestant on Mo Gilligan's new BBC series That's My Jam, the night before as it was launched right after the Strictly final.

Viewers can also expect to see Alesha as a judge for Britain's Get Singing, featuring Love Island and Loose Women stars, on ITV on Christmas Eve, before she's back on the BBC on Christmas Day as she is one of the celebrity players on Michael McIntyre's The Wheel.

And then on New Year's Eve comes probably the biggest job of the lot as Alesha hosts National Lottery’s Big New Year Bash. She will team up with Jason Manford for the show, which will feature performances from Tom Grennan, Adam Lambert, Joel Corry, RAYE, Katherine Jenkins and Cirque du Soleil.

Commenting on the two hour pre-recorded concert, Alesha said; "The National Lottery’s New Year’s Eve Big Bash is going to be the night you will not want to miss. Think of it as a huge house party with an amazing line-up and a few hidden extras along the way! Get dressed up from the comfort of your own home and come party with us - we’ve got your evening sorted.”
