Marco Silva’s side had already sealed a third promotion to the Premier League in five seasons with victory over Preston last month, but that came in the midst of a slack run of just one win in five games that hardly did justice to the way they have carried all before them this term, first topping the table in August and making all but a brief stint of the running since mid-November.
