Aleksandar Mitrovic gives his view on penalty awarded to Fulham against Liverpool

Fulham striker Aleksandar Mitrovic has given his view on the penalty incident with Virgil van Dijk in the draw with Liverpool.

The Reds were held to a 2-2 draw with Fulham at Craven Cottage in their first Premier League match of the new season. Darwin Nunez and Mohamed Salah got the goals to help earn a point for Liverpool in West London.

Mitrovic scored both goals for the home side, with his second coming from the penalty spot. Referee Andy Madley awarded the spot kick after Van Dijk was adjudged to have fouled Mitrovic in the box.

The Serbia international has now provided his view on the incident. Mitrovic insists that he did feel enough contact to get the penalty, after pundit Andy Townsend claimed the striker dived.

"Yeah it was a touch, I think,” Mitrovic told Viaplay Fotball.

“I moved the ball, he tried to touch the ball but I just move it before he touched my knee.

“Yeah, I felt the contact was hard enough for the penalty."
