Alejandro Garnacho names his favourite position to play in for Manchester United

Alejandro Garnacho said he enjoys playing on the left wing as much as possible following his breakthrough into the Manchester United first team this season.

The 18-year-old has four goal contributions to his name from his last four appearances, all of which came when he was playing in his favoured role in the forward line.

Garnacho netted his first senior goal for the club in their Europa League win over Real Sociedad, grabbed two assists against Aston Villa in the League Cup, and then came off the bench to net a dramatic winner versus Fulham last time out.

His breakthrough has only further added to Erik ten Hag's selection headache in attack, with Garnacho admitting that the overstocked left wing role is his favourite.

“I’ve always liked to play out wide on the left, as a right-footed player able to cut inside,” he told club media. “To be able to play as a right-footed player down the left, you also have to be pretty decent with your weaker foot. From an early age, I’ve always practiced hard using both feet, because that makes you into a much better player and so nowadays I can play with both feet – not to perfection but to a good standard.

“Thankfully I was able to score those two goals with my other foot without too much difficulty.”
