Alejandro Garnacho contract latest - Manchester United stance as new deal 'close'

Manchester United are keen to extend Alejandro Garnacho's contract at Old Trafford amid claims that clubs across Europe are now watching his situation at Old Trafford.

Garnacho has been in fantastic form when called upon this season. He provided the assist for Marcus Rashford in the 2-1 Manchester derby win on Saturday and the Argentine is very much part of Erik ten Hag's long-term plans at Old Trafford.

However, he's claimed to be attracting interest from some of Europe's top clubs, with reports suggesting that the likes of Real Madrid and Juventus are monitoring his situation. The 18-year-old's current deal is set to expire in the summer of 2024 - albeit with the option of an extra year - but no new contract has been signed yet.

With that in mind, let's take a look at all the latest news surrounding his future.

Garnacho 'close to agreeing new contract'

United are close to tying Garnacho down to a fresh contract, according to The Telegraph. Despite suggestions that a new offer was refused by the player's representatives, United are in advanced negotiations over a fresh contract and remain confident they can tie down their promising star.

United 'make improved offer'

United have offered Garnacho an improved contract offer, according to the Independent. The winger had previously rejected an offer worth £20,000 a week and it is understood that has been significantly improved upon but with the contract weighted towards development and on-pitch performance.

Real Madrid and Juventus interest

The Express report that United could face a fight to keep Garnacho at the club beyond his current contract, with heavyweight interest brewing across Europe. Juventus and Real Madrid are among the teams circling the 18-year-old winger as United attempt to tie him down to a new deal.

Garnacho's agents 'disappointed' with offer

As per the Independent, a new contract offer put in front of Garnacho remains unsigned. The player’s representatives have said an offer of £20,000 isn't enough, and that doesn’t reflect his growing status on the team. Garnacho is understood to be on £7,000 at present, which certainly doesn’t reflect his status.
