The Miami Dolphins brought in a great player this offseason when they signed fullback Alec Ingold to a two-year deal worth $6.5 million.
While fullbacks don’t always get the credit they deserve, Ingold is having a pretty solid season statistically. Through 10 games, he’s recorded 10 receptions for 83 yards and a touchdown, and he’s also found the end zone once on the ground.
Ingold isn’t just being recognized for his stats, he’s also been named the Dolphins’ nominee for the 2022 Art Rooney Sportsmanship Award.
According to the NFL’s website, “the award is presented each year to an NFL player who best demonstrates the qualities of on-field sportsmanship, including fair play, respect for the game and opponents, and integrity in competition.”
Since the award’s inception in 2014, no Dolphin has ever won. However, Miami does have a player on their roster who once on, as Teddy Bridgewater earned the honor in 2020 when he was a member of the Carolina Panthers.
