The involuntary manslaughter trial of actor Alec Baldwin commenced on July 9 with the commencement of jury selection. The trial is expected to continue until July 19.
The prosecution has been allotted five days to present their witnesses, with the state's case against Baldwin set to conclude by July 16. Following this, Baldwin's defense team will have three days to question witnesses.
Closing arguments are scheduled to take place on July 19, after which the jury will be excused for deliberations.
The prosecution has accused Baldwin of placing his finger 'on or around' the trigger of the F.LLI Pietta Long Colt 45 Revolver that he was holding at the time of the shooting. Baldwin, however, has consistently denied pulling the trigger.
During the trial, Baldwin's legal representatives argued that the fatal shooting of cinematographer Halyna Hutchins was not something that could have been foreseen.
'No one had any idea that it was on that set or in that gun in that world,' stated Alex Spiro, one of Baldwin's lawyers. 'They were all in it together.'
