Alec Baldwin 'among four people facing charges' over Halyna Hutchins shooting

Alec Baldwin is reportedly facing charges over the shooting of cinematographer Halyna Hutchins.

The filmmaker was killed on the set of Rust in a terrifying incident which also injured the film's director Joel Souza.

Hutchins died when a prop gun was fired in October last year on the New Mexico film set.

Santa Fe District Attorney District Attorney Mary Carmack-Altwies said she was 'ready' to file charges against four people.

In a letter to the state's financial board, she said she was "certainly looking all the homicide statutes and any gun statutes under New Mexico criminal code".

"One of the possible defendants is well known movie actor Alec Baldwin," she added.

The attorney has reportedly requested $635,000 to prosecute the case, claiming she needed the money to 'go up against well-paid attorneys'.

According to AP, Carmack-Altwies said she is expecting to receive the final investigation report from the Santa Fe County Sheriff’s Office soon.

Baldwin was pointing a gun at cinematographer Halyna when it went off on October 21, killing her and wounding the director, Joel.

Halyna taken to a hospital in New Mexico where she later died from her injuries.

The crew had been inside a small church during setup for filming a scene.

Baldwin, previously appearing on the Chris Cuomo Project, said: "I know that every single person on the set of the film knows what happened.

"The people who are talking loudest about what happened or speculating about what happened were not on the set of the film."

After naming a number of media outlets in the US, Alec added: "They are talking on and on and on about what if this and what if that and have dined out on this and the thing that they have in common is nobody was there.

"Everybody who was there, they know exactly what happened. They know exactly who's to blame."

When discussing the investigation, the Hollywood star continued: "The fact that this has taken so long has been quite troublesome to me."

The FBI report on the incident claimed the prop weapon "could not be made to fire without a pull of the trigger".

However, Alec has always denied that he did so. He said a bullet could be fired without the trigger being pulled through a process called "fanning".

"This did not come from me, this came from the DA's Office themselves," he revealed to the host.

"If you pull the hammer back, and you don't lock the hammer; if you pull the hammer back pretty far - in old Western movies you'd see someone fan the hammer of the gun.

"The hammer didn't lock. You pulled it back to an extent where it would fire the bullet without you pulling the trigger, without you locking the hammer."
