John Aldridge wants Caoimhin Kelleher to be a Red for life.
However, the former striker concedes that the Ireland goalkeeper’s ambition might force him to leave Anfield.
“He’s a great talent, he’s a great goalkeeper,” said the former striker, who scored 63 goals in 104 appearances for the Reds.

“It’s just one of those, I want to see him at Liverpool the rest of his life, and when Alisson is gone and he progresses or whatever.
“But can he waste the next six years? It’s really tough on the lad.
“I’m such a massive Liverpool fan, I want him to stay, but it’s unfair on him to just play the cup games.
“It’s whatever the lad wants, it’s what he wants. And Klopp is that good that if he really wants to progress and go I’m sure Jurgen wouldn’t stand in his way.”
Aldridge has received some glowing reviews of the Cork native.
“John Achterberg is a really good friend of mine,” said the ex-Ireland ace. “He’s the goalkeeping coach, and (he uses) words like, ‘He’s right up there’.
“Only that we probably have the best goalkeeper in the world along with Ederson, and that’s so unlucky for him.
“What do you do? The manager wants to be true to him. I’m selfish and I want to stay at Liverpool because he’s that good.
“Whatever the lad wishes for, everybody wishes him the best, hopefully it is in a Liverpool shirt.”
Meanwhile, Aldridge has conceded that Liverpool are out of this year’s title race.
Last season’s runners-up are 15 points adrift of leaders Arsenal - and according to the former Anfield striker they would need to win all their remaining 26 games to have a chance.
“It’s gone hasn’t it? You have to win every game once we come back, more or less,” he said.
“To win the league you have to have 95 points. Liverpool had 99 points once and we didn’t win the league.
“City will win it I’m pretty sure. We have to make sure we make the top-four, with how important the Champions League is to the club.
“You saw what happened to Manchester United. We can’t let that happen to us. I don’t like Thursday night football.”
