Aldi worker reveals he gives some shoppers special treatment depending on how often they visit stores

One Aldi worker has claimed he gives certain shoppers favourable treatment depending on whether it's their first time in the store.

The staff member said that this will be based on how long the customer has been shopping at the retailer.

Kyle, an Aldi employee, said that in the USA, customers need a coin to use the trolley but some forget to bring one.

He stated that he will lend a coin to some customers, but only if they are new to the store, as the Mirror UK reports.

If they're a return customer then he expects them to remember to bring a coin.

Kyle, who lives in Virginia, explained that this is because each coin he lends out has to come from his till and if it's not returned then he is short at the end of his shift.

Speaking to Mental Floss, Kyle said: "I try not to give them a quarter because the quarters we give come out of our own registers.

“So if we don't get them back, we end up losing money out of our own drawer.

"If it's a first-time shopper, I gladly give them a quarter and explain to them why we have this system in place, and pretty much every person is very understanding on why we do it.”

It comes as Aldi customers in Ireland have been left "devastated" as a service created during Covid-19 is now suddenly unavailable.

Aldi and Deliveroo had worked together to offer at-home delivery during the pandemic and thousands of people jumped have continued to order their weekly shop online since.

However, on Saturday Aldi confirmed that they are no longer offering the home service with the delivery app.

They have not confirmed whether or not it will resume in time or if it has entirely ceased.
