Two major retailers are recalling some of its chicken products after salmonella fears. Aldi and Pret A Manger have both announced recalls. Aldi is recalling its Eat + Go Chicken & Bacon Caesar Wrap and Eat + Go Chicken & Bacon Caesar Wrap Triple because of the possible presence of salmonella in these products.
Symptoms caused by salmonella usually include fever, diarrhoea, and abdominal cramps. The Food Standards Agency (FSA) said: "Action taken by the company Aldi is recalling the above products. Point of sale notices will be displayed in all retail stores that are selling these products. Our advice to consumers If you have bought any of the above products do not eat them. Instead, return them to the nearest store for a full refund."
The Food Standards Agency is the government department responsible for protecting public heath. Recalls issued by the Agency ensure that customers are aware that products may have a problem with them, making them unfit for sale. A number of food products have been listed by the department and recalled recently.

The Aldi products included in the recall are the Eat + Go Chicken & Bacon Caesar Wrap and the Eat + Go Chicken & Bacon Caesar Wrap Triple - both with use by dates of Wednesday, May 11 and Thursday, May 12, 2022. Aldi said: "We apologise for any inconvenience and thank you for your co-operation."
Sandwich chain Pret A Manger has also issued a recall on chicken products due to fears of salmonella contamination with its suppliers. Pret said the removal of the products is a "precautionary measure" due to concerns of a possible "food safety risk" with their supplier.
A Pret A Manger spokesperson said: "As a precautionary measure, we've temporarily removed the majority of chicken items on our menu due to a potential food safety risk at one of our suppliers. We hope to have these products back in shops soon. We apologise for any inconvenience."
This year has already seen a host of supermarkets and big brands recall products tainted with salmonella. The most high profile has been Kinder, which had to recall its Kinder Surprise and Mini Egg chocolates as more than 100 people caught food poisoning from the treats.
