A new alternative to sparkling Italian fizz prosecco has been unearthed by wine experts from budget supermarket Aldi. Described as “sipping on sunshine," it is the perfect rare gem to toast the start of Spring, and warmer, brighter days ahead.
Aldi wine expert Sam Caporn explained why the tipple is predicted to become a favourite. She said: “This delicious Italian sparkler has pretty aromas of pear, yellow plums and honeysuckle with a fruity, frothy and flavoursome palate that is ever so slightly off-dry. The younger sibling of prosecco that is finally getting its moment to shine.”
Italy’s Ribolla Gialla sparkling wine (£6.99 a bottle) is crafted from an ancient variety of grape, found mostly in the beautiful north-eastern Fruili Venezia Giulia region.
