Popular supermarket Aldi is set to open up 40 new stores over the span of the next year - revealing a list of where it wants to set up 30 stores, including in one location in the North East of England.
Some £400m will be invested into the expansion, with the 990+ strong supermarket chain hoping to open up 1,200 in total as a main target.
Aldi also previously mentioned that it was on the lookout for sites, even agreeing to pay a finder's fee to those who successfully recommend them.

The Mirror reports it is looking for freehold town centre or edge-of-town sites that are around 1.5 acres and can accommodate a 20,000 square foot store with around 100 parking spaces. Ideally, each location would be near a main road with good visibility and access, with priority locations listed below.
The supermarket offers a finder’s fee for agents who recommend a site, which is either 1.5% of a freehold price or 10% of the first year’s rent for leasehold sites. Aldi also shared an email address for those who want to recommend a site that may fit Aldi’s requirements.

Giles Hurley, CEO at Aldi UK, said: “Demand for Aldi has never been higher here are still some towns and areas that either don’t have access to an Aldi or have the capacity for additional stores. To meet that demand, we need to open more stores and it’s our mission to keep driving our ambitious expansion plan to achieve that.”
Aldi's plan for 40 new stores this year is set to create around 6,000 new jobs in the UK. The supermarket has also pledged to almost double its 60-strong estate within the M25 and create around 2,400 jobs.
Aldi said the reason for the openings comes after the demand for budget groceries has 'never been higher'. Last year Aldi overtook Morrisons to become Britain's fourth-largest UK grocery chain.
Aldi was also crowned the 'cheapest' supermarket of 2022 by the consumer champion Which? having been crowned the lowest priced for seven consecutive months, from June to December. Fellow German discount retailer Lidl took second place.
