Last weekend, Aldi found itself in the firing line with furious shoppers over its latest Special Buy. Thousands of shoppers set their alarms early to head to supermarkets on Sunday, only to be left bitterly disappointed when they arrived.
After being stuck in queues of over 100,000 people for the online launch of Aldi's Ninja air fryer dupe just a week before, people thought they'd have more luck in stores. Unfortunately, that was not the case.
Many shoppers were left disappointed to find that no stock had been delivered, or that there was only a handful of air fryers available instore. Others complained on social media that they had not been told about a ticketing system being implemented at some locations, meaning some customers had already been allocated an air fryer while others in the queue missed out.
Others claim they turned up only to be told the air fryers had already sold out before stores even opened. Responding to shoppers on Twitter, Aldi said: "Aldi tweeted: "Hi there, so sorry to hear this! UK Stores only received minimal stock of this item, these products are very popular and limited in stock, so they tend to sell out very quickly."
Now one woman has found a cheaper alternative in Aldi's rival Lidl. She advised disappointed Aldi shoppers to take a look in Lidl's Black Friday sale for a £39.99 Daewood model.
Posting on the Aldi UK shoppers group, Janice White wrote: "For those who missed out on the Aldi Ambiano dual basket air fryer, Lidl are selling a 4 litre single basket Daewood one Black Friday 21st November. £39.99."
Shoppers thanked Janice and were keen to get their hands on one. Unlike Aldi's air fryer, Lidl's has one draw instead of two. It does, however, cost £50 less than Aldi's £89.99 offering. The Daewood £39.99 air fryers hit Lidl stores on November 21st.
