A tip to decorate your home with a 20p Aldi product has upset some shoppers, who have found it 'insulting' and 'offensive'. While the country prepares for the Queen's Platinum Jubilee, which is set to cost £millions, countless British families are struggling to heat their homes and put food on the table.
After it was announced that fuel prices are set to rise further in October earlier this week, people are scrimping even more, and are looking for cheap ways to celebrate the Jubilee without spending much of their hard-earned money.
In a bid to help people decorate their home on a budget, a tip suggesting that people cut up 20p Aldi bags and turn the Union Jack which features on them into bunting has been doing the rounds on social media.

A post on the Extreme Couponing and Bargains group read : "Create your own Jubilee flag decorations using Aldi Bags you may have lying around (You can always fold and reuse afterwards)."
The idea didn't go down well with some people, who were, quite frankly, insulted by the suggestion of 20p bunting while millions are being spent on the Jubilee.
Fee Moran slammed: "They are spending millions on this event, but that’s ok Britain, the average household, scraping by to feed their families can cost cut on their decorations by re using their budget supermarket carrier bags! Phew!! That’s a great saving for those of us who can’t afford to buy bunting." Danielle Patterson said: "It would be cheaper to just buy decorations nowadays."
Millie Hutchings said: "That's 10p a flag... That's not cheap." Andy Wyness slammed: "Oh for the love of God." Lauren Burgess wrote: "Them bags cost more than an actual bunting off eBay."
Some other people, were, however, more enthusiastic about the idea, and say it's great for saving money and being friendlier to the planet than it would be to buy new things just for the Jubilee.
Kathy Wilson praised: "I did this for the 75 th VE Day, this year iv bought two carrier bags from Poundland with union jacks, and have cut them up, to stick on my windows." Rhona Marie Matthews commented: "Brilliant idea. Saves money."
Maisy Lee said: " I might see if ive got any aldi bags lying around." Lisa Marie recalled: "I done this in lockdown for VE Day. Great idea."
