Bargain hunting shoppers have been so wowed by a cheap bottle of perfume from Aldi that it has them ditching a designer brand that is more £100 more expensive.
The budget supermarket chain's Hotel Collection No.1 Lime, Basil & Mandarin fragrance has wowed shoppers by "smelling exactly the same" as a bottle from Jo Malone. Keen shoppers will know that the grocery chain is no stranger to Jo Malone 'dupes', with its candles and reed diffusers also being compared to the luxury brand.
Priced at just £6.99, Aldi's budget perfume is perfect for anyone who is looking for a designer perfume for less, especially as the major branded bottle costs a whopping £110 - meaning shoppers could save £103.
Aldi says that its fresh Hotel Collection No.1 Lime, Basil & Mandarin Eau De Parfum boasts top notes of lime, mandarin orange and bergamot, sumptuous middle notes of basil, lilac, iris and thyme and luxurious base notes of patchouli and vetiver.
The only apparent difference between the 'dupe' and the luxury perfume - aside from the massive price difference - was that Jo Malone's perfume contains a base note of amberwood, making it a smokier fragrance.
That being said, shoppers have been raving about the supermarket's perfume after it was shared by one bargain hunter to the Extreme Couponing and Bargains UK Group on Facebook.
Sharing the perfume she snapped up in store, Caroline Scampton wrote: "Aldi Jo Malone DUPE £6.99. As a lover of Jo Malone I saw this in Aldi and decided to try it - it’s the same size 100ml, it smells exactly the same and lasts longer!!!"
The post was quickly inundated with shoppers who agreed with the shopper, with some eve suggesting that they have ditched the designer brand for the supermarket's more affordable perfumes.
"They are brilliant and the hand soaps are amazing too", exclaimed one shopper.
"These are so nice! No one ever tells the difference", raved a second.
"I can vouch it does smell the same", wrote a third.
"I don't buy the Jo Malone now, it's pointless when the dupes last fairly well, and can respray if needed", added a fourth.
"The Aldi dupes are great. And as they are EDP they last much longer on me than the Jo Malone cologne", replied a fifth.
The Hotel Collection No.1 Lime, Basil & Mandarin Eau De Parfum is not available buy online, so you might want to try your local store. Check for stock availability as Specialbuys tend to sell out fast.
