Aldi shoppers praise £8 Specialbuy heated airer that slashes energy costs to 8p per hour

Supermarket Aldi is no stranger to saving people money, especially when it comes to groceries and consumables.

But the German budget retailer has recently been praised for a £7.99 Specialbuy which can lead to savings in the energy department.

As Britons brace themselves for yet another rise in Ofgem's energy price cap, people are constantly searching for ways to reduce their monthly expenditure when it comes to gas and electricity.

The MEN reports that some have looked to alternatives like heated throws, USB gloves and insulated hoodies in a bid to keep warm - but while clothing can keep you warm, the task of drying said clothes without any warmth can prove more difficult. However, shoppers have found a cheap and cheerful solution in Aldi.

The best bit? It only costs 8p an hour to run - so you can keep your heating off. The supermarket is selling the Easy Home Heated Airer and one customer claims she picked it up for £7.99 from her local outlet.

Writing on Extreme Coupons and Bargaining UK, the pleased customer posted a photo of the clothes airer and wrote: "Aldi £7.99 bargain I think roughly 8p per hour to run. Much cheaper than my tumble dryer."

The post quickly gathered over 7k comments and 5k likes but some shoppers have added that online the price is still £39.99, arguing the price difference must depend on whether you buy it online or in store. Despite this, one replied: "We need this for winter," while another, echoed: "Omg I want one and get rid of the tumble."

"I want one," a third simply commented, and a fourth, added: "Think I need one too!"

However, not all who saw the sure-fire deal were filled with praise and positivity for it, with some complaining of its size and efficiency.

One argued: "I would stick to your tumble dryer. These heated racks are useless at drying the whole garment and it takes ages," while another, hit back: "They’re not very good only dry the bits that are on the bars and it leaves lines in your clothes. Takes up a lot of space."
