Aldi shoppers 'angry' as highly sought-after air fryer sells out causing site to crash

Air fryers have been, and still are, one of the most highly sought-after kitchen gadgets over the last few years and comes amid the cost of living crisis.

Because of this, Aldi shoppers set their alarm clocks bright and early to make sure that they were up in time to get the bargain as a new air fryer dropped online.

It comes as cooks across the UK are trying to get their hands on the Ninja Dual Air Fryer and with the Black Friday sale currently underway for the brand, it proved so popular that it crashed the website.

And they weren't the only website to crash with Aldi shoppers complaining that the same thing happened.

Launching what some people call a dupe of the Ninja edition, the budget supermarket today (November 6) sold an air fryer costing £89.99 - making it a whopping £140 cheaper than the Ninja.

Aldi launched its own version of the popular air fryer for £89.99. (Aldi UK.)

Aldi's Dual Basket Air Fryer comes with seven pre-set programs, plus functions to reheat, defrost, keep warm and sync. It also features an easy-to-navigate touch screen with a 60 minute timer and adjustable temperature controls, two four litre cooking baskets and soft touch handles.

However when it went live online, it wasn't long before it sold out and shoppers were not happy with many left feeling angry.

Going live at 8am, people were keen to get their hands on the must-have kitchen essential with many then taking to Facebook's Aldi UK shoppers group to tell people what happened.

One said: "I just don’t understand how I've been refreshing since 7.30am (and earlier) and every time I get on the site it says coming soon. It isn’t showing as out of stock.

"A lot of people are still having the same issue as me. So I don’t understand how it has sold out for some but not even come up for others."

Another added: ""Never thought I’d see the @AldiUK website crash due to a load of nutters trying to buy an air fryer, but I guess I’ve found my people."

More than 82,000 shoppers were stuck in a queue for the Aldi air fryer at 9.20am on Sunday morning (Rachel Pugh.)

"Air fryer.....impossible purchase!!!" wrote a third.

According to MEN, shoppers weren't the only ones who were struggling as they report: "The website and app both crashed at 8am, meaning people were unable to buy the kitchen gadgets. When we were finally able to load the Aldi website at 9.20am, we were placed number 82,972 in the queue. And that's after a couple of hours of trying to load the website."

A notification on the Aldi website says the air fryer is 'coming soon'. The air fryers will be in stock in Aldi supermarkets next Sunday (November 13) - but it looks like it may be difficult to get one.
