Aldi shopper shares simple hack she uses to trick kids into eating own-brand ketchup

A smart shopper has shared her Aldi ketchup hack that will help families make the money-saving switch to a cheaper bottle of the sauce.

The clever mum has tricked her kids into preferring the own-brand bottle of ketchup, reports the Daily Record. The savvy bargain-hunter shared her hack on the Aldi Shoppers UK Group on Facebook for other families to follow suit.

She captioned the post: "Sshhh! My kids will never know!! Very messy Mum!! Time to watch the pennies more than ever."

The trick includes emptying a bottle of Aldi's 72 pence own-branded Bramwell's ketchup into the much pricier Heinz bottle, that was bought earlier in the month. According to the smart mum, her kids can't even tell the difference, making her trick very cost-effective during the inflation crisis many find themselves in right now.

Shoppers flocked to the comments of the post to share their joy in finding out the new hack, with many praising the mum on sharing her secrets. One Facebook user wrote: "Gotta do what you gotta do now a days I think it’s a brilliant idea."

Another said: "Love this. Think I might do this to my husband. He says nothing beats Heinz. We shall see!"

And a third wrote: "Brilliant, might try this with hubby."

More comments read: "We started buying Aldi ketchup few weeks back and the kids said it's as good as Heinz. And at 64p I'm happy to buy a few more each week."

Others added: "I did this to my husband and he couldn’t tell the difference. In fact he insisted it was Heinz?"

More shoppers mentioned how they do this trick with other cupboard essentials, proving the cheaper brands can be just as tasty.

One shopper said: "I've done that many times before plus put supermarket cereal in Kelloggs boxes. They never knew!"

Another commented: "I did the same with cola my daughter would only drink coke but it was expensive so bought Aldi and poured into a empty coke bottle she was drinking it for months before she realised, now she buys cheap Aldi cola herself."

And another added: "I do this all the time - I also swap fish fingers in to a different box and washing up liquid in to fairy bottle hahaha!"
