Aldi selling pizza ovens and BBQs from £40 including ‘Big Green Egg’ dupe with 950 reviews

Barbecue season is upon us, with a four-day bank holiday on the horizon thanks to the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee. And Aldi has everything you need for the perfect garden party when you realise your pre-pandemic barbecue has gone rusty.

The budget supermarket has launched a range of pizza ovens from £39.99, as well as electric, charcoal and gas barbecues for cooking up your hot dogs and burgers.

And one barbecue , which is said to be a dupe of The Big Green Egg, has racked up nearly 1,000 positive reviews, praised for being around a grand cheaper than the big name brand.

Aldi’s Gardenline Kamado Ceramic Egg BBQ can be bought for £399.99, while a Big Green Egg official barbie costs around £1,295 - almost £1,000 more.

Aldi said: “This Gardenline Kamado Ceramic Egg BBQ has a unique Japanese inspired insulated design that allows you to cook food that is not only succulent but gorgeously smoky at the same time.

“The kamado BBQ is versatile, allowing you to grill, bake, slow cook and even smoke your summer BBQ favourites. It has been designed so there is an even distribution of heat, cooking your meals evenly.”

More than 950 reviews have been published on the egg barbecue , including 847 five star reviews compared to just 15 who gave it one star.

A shopper who goes by the username Macintosh said: “What’s not to like? A fraction of the cost of competitors but produces quality BBQ food that tastes every bit as good. For anyone who doesn’t need a brand name it’s a no brainer. We love it!”

While ‘Chango’ added: “For just under £400 this BBQ has exceeded all expectations, I was initially saving up for one of the more expensive branded BBQs but after reading reviews here and a few YouTube videos I’m over the moon with this product. Highly recommended.”

Those looking for something more affordable, there’s the Fervor Dual Fuel BBQ for under £200. The outdoor barbecue combines gas and charcoal grilling for the best of both worlds, with side burners and added extras to make your bank holiday barbie go as smoothly as possible.

The dual fuel device offers thermometers to check meat temperatures, as well as warming racks in both roasting hoods. The powder coated steel barbecue has wheels for easy transportation, and a side burner for extra cooking space.

Cheaper still is the Ambiano Electric Grill for £39.99 which Aldi said is great for ‘at home and on the go camping trips’. The supermarket added: “It's just what you need for cooking up a whole array of foods for family and friends to enjoy.”

But those looking to splash out on something more substantial might look at Aldi’s Premium Outdoor BBQ Kitchen which comes in at £599.99. The luxury BBQ features everything you need to keep your guests stomachs from rumbling, including six burners, a side burner, two cooking grills and a cooking plate, as well as a sink, large storage space, warming rack and a thermometer.

Shoppers can also pick up a selection of pizza ovens in Aldi’s Specialbuys section, with prices from £39.99 for their BBQ top pizza oven. The barbeque pizza oven is made of ceramic stone and can be used on gas and charcoal barbeques to cook pizzas with whatever toppings you desire.

But if it’s a standalone pizza oven you’re looking for, the German retailer has one for £179.99. Aldi's gas pizza oven has two shelves so you can pop in a couple of pizzas at a time. What's more it's a bargain when you compare it to Ooni's flagship Karu 16 oven which comes in at a hefty £699.

Aldi’s most expensive pizza oven is the ‘fire king’ at £599.99 allowing customers to ‘bring out their inner chef’. The large stainless steel pizza oven is perfect for creating delicious wood-fired pizza from the comfort of your own home. It heats up in around 10 minutes, and comes with an ash brush, pizza shovel, pizza slice holder, pizza cutter and protection cover.

And, just in case you fancied something a little different, this large versatile large pizza oven can even be used for baking bread, lasagne and roasting, too.
