Shoppers have slammed some of the countries biggest supermarket chains over a major change they have recently introduced on their bottles of milk.
Aldi, Sainsbury's and Waitrose all announced earlier this year they would be switching from coloured to clear bottle tops in a bid to help reduce plastic waste.
Despite the good intentions, quite a few shoppers have taken to social media to express their confusion over the move after they couldn't find the correct milk they were looking for, reports The Liverpool Echo.
One Waitrose shopper Tweeted: "As if we haven’t got enough to worry about right now with energy costs/rising inflation, @waitrose decides to make all milk tops the SAME causing CHAOS when selecting correct bottle from fridge. WHAT FRESH HELL IS THIS?! #crucialissues."
Meanwhile, another shopper said to Sainsbury's : "Why the hell they changed the blue or green top for milk bottles to clear one it doing my head, I keep thinking the top is off when making a breakfast or tea/coffee ..anyone doing the same ??"
And they are not the only supermarket to be criticised, as shoppers from Sainsbury's and Aldi where also left a little disgruntled by the move.
One Aldi shopper wrote: "@AldiUK who on Earth thought it was a good idea to make the plastic milk tops clear?? Just spent 25 mins looking for it! It was already on!"
Waitrose announced in June that they would be trialling clear plastic milk bottle tops in a bid to further reduce plastic waste as each cap can be reused for food-grade packaging - an industry first.
Aldi announced the same move back in August this year.
Richard Gorman, plastics and packaging director at Aldi, said: “We know it’s becoming increasingly important to our customers that their everyday products are environmentally-friendly, and we are constantly reviewing ways to become a more sustainable supermarket.
“By trialling clear milk caps we are making our milk bottles easier to recycle, so they can be turned back into new packaging.”
