Aldi's new cereal is awful for breakfast but it makes an amazing money-saving dessert

Aldi has launched a new cereal, but we've found a better use for it than the breakfast table.

While the Biscoff flavour is seemingly taking over the world - appearing in everything from cheesecake to milkshakes - for us, it's simply too sweet to have at breakfast time.

That doesn't mean to say we don't like Aldi's new 'Caramelised Biscuit' balls however, they're delicious, but in a dessert instead.

With the hot weather of late, I decided to use them as an ice cream topping instead, along with Aldi's version of the Biscoff spread, which, in my opinion, tastes just the same as the real thing.

A few scoops of plain vanilla ice cream, topped with some 'Biscoff' balls, and with some of the melted spread poured over the top makes for a mouth-watering dessert.

It's so cheap to make a portion of it too. With the cereal costing £2.19 for 375g, the spread £1.99 for 400g and a 2-litre tub of vanilla ice cream costing £1.69, it's less than 50p a bowl. Or you could buy some cheap cones - Aldi has a pack of 10 waffle cones for £1.09 - and get even more from it.

I have a feeling the cereal will soon be selling out, but I'm not sure customers will be having it for breakfast.
