Aldi, Poundland and CKs recall products over safety concerns

Warnings have been issued by supermarkets to customers who have brought certain products from their stores due to potential health and safety risks. Aldi, CKs and TKMAXX are among those who have asked customers to return items and have promised a full refund.

Vegan Store Go Max Go Buccaneer Candy Bar

Vegan Store is recalling Go Max Go Buccaneer Candy Bar because it contains peanuts, which are not mentioned on the label. As a result of a packaging error, some packs have been incorrectly packed with a product which contains peanuts. This means the product is a possible health risk for anyone with an allergy to peanuts.

Pack size: 57g

Best before: April 24, 2023

What Vegan Store said: "If you have bought the above product and have an allergy to peanuts, do not eat it. Instead, return it to the store from where it was bought for a full refund. CKs The Coconut Kitchen Pad Thai Sauce

CK Food and Drinks Ltd is recalling The Coconut Kitchen Pad Thai Sauce because an incorrect label has been applied to Chilli, Garlic and Basil sauce which contains fish and crustaceans which are not declared on the label. This means the product is a possible health risk for anyone with an allergy to fish and/or crustaceans.

Aldi Harvest Morn High Protein Bars

Aldi is recalling various Harvest Morn High Protein Bars because they contain milk and/or peanuts and/or soya which may not be emphasised in bold type on the label. This means the products are a possible health risk for anyone with an allergy or intolerance to milk or milk constituents, an allergy to peanuts and/or an allergy to soya.

Poundland - 'Small and bright' Wooden Xylophone Toy

The product has been recalled as it has insufficient glue holding the balls on the end of the mallets in place. If these balls were to detach, they would become small parts that could be placed in a child's mouth causing them to choke.

The product does not comply with the Toys (Safety) Regulations 2011

Salsa Cycles - Cowbell Carbon Cowchipper Carbon Handlebars

It has been identified that the handlebars may crack or break where the brake / shift levers are installed. If the handlebars crack or break the rider could lose control of the bicycle and fall, leading to serious injury.

The product does not meet the requirements of the General Product Safety Regulations 2005.

Aroma Home - Plug-In Salt Lamp Night Light - sold by TK Maxx

The product presents a high risk of electric shock as the construction of the product means that moisture from the salt lamp can drip onto metal components with mains voltage, presenting a risk of electric shock. The plug pin dimensions do not comply with BS 1363 so may damage a plug socket and potentially cause a fire or electric shock.

The product does not meet the requirements of the Electrical Equipment (Safety) Regulations 2016.

Educational Toys for Toddlers Magnetic Fishing Game - sold via Wish

The product presents a high risk of choking as it is made up of various small parts as received. The product could cause the vulnerable consumer to choke as the parts could be swallowed get stuck in larynx and block the airways. Consequently, this could block the airways and the oxygen flow to the brain would be blocked.

The product does not meet the requirements of the Toys (Safety) Regulations 2011.

OPSS are requiring the recall of the product from end users.

Niluoya - USB Charger Plug Dual Port Power Adapter - sold via Amazon

The product poses a high risk of electric shock as there is poor insulation and inadequate creepage and clearance. There was also no triple insulation wire used in the transformer. Electrical insulation between mains / accessible parts may degrade over time as creepage and clearances distances are insufficient (measured 0.6 mm). The product also failed the electric strength test at 3,000 V and was not supplied with all of the required documentations and markings.

The product does not comply with the Electrical Equipment (Safety) Regulations 2016.

The product presents a high risk of electric shock as there is inadequate creepage and clearance, and potential access to live parts. Electrical insulation between mains / accessible parts may degrade over time due to this inadequate creepage and clearance. There is no insulation under the USB socket where the live conductor runs, and the transformer does not use triple insulated wire.

The product does not comply with the Electrical Equipment (Safety) Regulations 2016.

Beikell - 4-Port USB Plug Charger Power Adapter - sold via Amazon

The product poses a high risk of electric shock as the creepage and clearance distances couldn't be measured due to triple insulated windings that are terminated on the printed circuit board away from the transformer. The product also failed the drop test, where it was dropped on to a solid wood surface from 1000 mm three times. On the third drop, the insulated shutter opening device fractured, giving consumers access to live parts which could give them an electric shock.

The product does not comply with the Electrical Equipment (Safety) Regulations 2016.

Anker - Black 535 Power Bank (PowerCore 20k)

A manufacturing flaw may have caused potential defects in some of the power banks. The negative temperature coefficient thermistors ('NTCs') may have been misplaced during the production process. This causes the NTC to press on and damage the battery cell, which can lead to overheating of the power bank.

The product has been recalled from end users. Owners should stop using the product immediately.

Affected products have only been sold in the UK via Amazon and the Anker website. Contact the distributor you purchased from for further information or to request a refund, or access the Anker website.
