Aldi pokes fun at Marks & Spencer feud with 'genius' tweet

Aldi has become renowned for its hilarious social media posts - which often poke fun at its competitors. The supermarket's recent drama with M&S over its Cuthbert the Caterpillar Cake - which bears strong resemblance to M&S's Colin the Caterpillar Cake - made headlines after the retailers' ended up taking the matter to court.

But Aldi's social team kept things funny by launching the #FreeCuthbert campaign on Twitter, leaving users in stitches. Adding fuel to the fire, they also cheekily referred to M&S as Marks & Snitches on the platform.

Now, the supermarket is up to mischief again with another hilarious tweet about the two stores' ongoing feud, the Mirror reports. The post likened the rivals to celebrities Selena Gomez and Hailey Bieber, who were recently pictured hugging and smiling together.

Aldi sent the bold tweet, retweeting Pop Base's photos of the pair looking happy, despite the fact Selena is Justin Bieber's ex - Hailey's current husband. The original photo also put rumours to bed that the pair are feuding.

The original tweet reads: "Selena Gomez and Hailey Bieber pose for photos together at the Academy Museum Gala."

Aldi simply tweeted: "us next @marksandspencers xx"

The tweet received a huge response from people who found the stand-alone tweet side-splitting. One wrote: "Awww one day they will cave and be your bestie."

Another joked: "I’d love to see a collab Christmas advert with you guys", followed by a crying with laughter face. Someone else said: "LOOOOOOOOOOOL I’m so here for the social media team"

Another Twitter user wrote: "Hate to break it to you but I think Marks is already with Spencer. Take a look at this pic", and they posted a picture of the M&S logo, to which Aldi quipped: "Heartbreaking!"

Someone suggested: "Your social media person deserves a raise!" to which another replied: "I'm convinced it's a paid comedian."

"HAHHAHAHA M&S would never", another joked.
