Everyone has their favourite supermarket, whether you're fancying a browse down a middle aisle, or have your preferred brands. But shoppers have now had their say on which is the nation's number one.
According to the latest polling data from YouGov, Aldi comes out top of the shops. Shoppers ranked the budget retailer ahead of the Big Four - Tesco, Sainsbury's, Asda and Morrisons - and Lidl.
It comes as Aldi says it saw an additional 1.3 million shoppers through its doors in the 12 weeks leading up to January 22. The retailer says more consumers are looking to save money during the cost-of-living-crisis.
A price comparison from trade magazine The Grocer also found the Big Four were on average 24% more expensive that Aldi. The supermarket says it was also recognised by Which? with the Cheapest Supermarket accolade for two years running.
Richard Thornton, Communications Director at Aldi, said: “We know that with the rising pressures of the cost of living, customers are looking for ways to save more than ever, while still looking for high-quality affordable food. Aldi continues to offer great quality products at unbeatable prices, which is why we believe British shoppers have voted us the nation’s favourite supermarket yet again.”
