Aldi have issued an important message to people who purchase semi-skimmed milk from their stores.
The supermarket is now trialling a change across all of its UK stores. It is making a change to the caps on it's semi-skimmed milk bottles in a bid to make them easier to recycle.
The British Semi Skimmed Standard Milk products are normally easy to distinguish from the other kinds of milk due to their green lids. But now, Aldi is trialling clear caps on its milk bottles which will be easier to recycle.

The trial, which is in partnership with milk supplier Müller, will be introduced later this month across its stores in Cheshire, Manchester and Liverpool. This move is the latest in Aldi’s efforts to increase the amount of recycled materials in its products as the retail giant is on track to have 50% of its plastic packaging made from recycled materials by 2025.
Richard Gorman, plastics and packaging director at Aldi, said: “We know it’s becoming increasingly important to our customers that their everyday products are environmentally-friendly, and we are constantly reviewing ways to become a more sustainable supermarket. By trialling clear milk caps we are making our milk bottles easier to recycle, so they can be turned back into new packaging.”
If the trial is seen to be successful it will later be rolled out to all Müller-supplied stores. By doing so, an additional 60 tonnes per year of recycled High-Density Polythene (rHDPE) could be turned back into food-grade packaging, as the milk bottle tops will be reused to create new milk bottles.
