Supermarket chain Aldi has announced that it will ban the sale of disposable barbecues in all its stores, in an effort to help protect the nation’s wildlife.
The German discounter, which is the first UK chain to take the step, says the ban will lead to about 35 tonnes of single-use waste packaging being saved from landfill.
The supermarket stopped selling disposable barbecues at its Buxton store, located close to the Peak District National Park, last year.
