Shoppers are snapping up ingredients for the latest range of tempting tipples designed to bring romance to Valentine's Day.
The delightful cocktails showcase budget supermarket Aldi’s brand-new spirit additions, including the indulgent Ballycastle Red Velvet Cream Liqueur (£7.25, 70cl) and botanical Haysmith’s Blackberry & Raspberry Bramble Gin (£14.99, 70cl).
Shoppers’ favourite Costellore Prosecco Vino Frizzante (£3.99, 75cl) has also got fans in a fizz as they wow loved ones without breaking the bank.
The Ballycastle Red Velvet Cream has already been featured in several TV and radio segments as a recommended route to romance ahead of the loving celebrations.
The supermarket chain has consulted experts to come up with a selection of special cocktails featuring the products.
I Choco-love You
A luxurious blend of velvety chocolate and cream flavours.
Ingredients:
- 70ml Ballycastle Red Velvet Cream Liqueur
- 30ml Cassario Black Spiced Rum
- 400ml water
- 60g sugar
- 60g The Pantry Cocoa Powder
Method:
- In a small saucepan, boil 200ml of water then remove from heat and add The Pantry Cocoa Powder and sugar
- Stir to dissolve and then add the remaining 200ml cup of water
- Once cooled, add the cream liqueur and rum to the mixture and leave to infuse
- After both spirits have successfully infused, strain the liquid through a coffee filter to remove any fine particles and pour into a glass of your choice once you are happy with the flavour
Cupid’s Cosmo
Perfect for gin lovers, this loveable Cosmo boasts flavours of refreshing raspberry and delicate rose, followed closely with hints of sour cranberry.
Ingredients:
- 50ml Infusionist Raspberry & Rose Gin Liqueur / Haysmith’s Blackberry & Raspberry Bramble Gin
- 25ml Cranberry Juice
- 25ml Lime Juice
- 75ml Costellore Prosecco Frizzante
- Orange peel for garnish
Method:
- Set the prosecco aside and shake the other ingredients with ice
- Strain into a glass, top with prosecco and garnish with an orange peel twist
Simply the Zest
This zesty number is the perfect match for those who like a fresh, citrus tipple to up the mood.
Ingredients:
- 100ml Costellore Prosecco Frizzante
- 35ml Greyson’s Sicilian Lemon Gin
- 15ml Lemon Juice
- 10ml Sugar Syrup
Method:
- Shake gin, lemon juice and sugar syrup into an ice filled shaker
- Strain liquid into a glass and top with prosecco
- Garnish with a lemon twist
