Albion Rovers boss Brian Reid says confidence and composure is lacking in his squad after they suffered another painful defeat in League Two.
For the third week running, Rovers came away empty-handed after dominating and remain bottom of the division after East Fife snatched all three points thanks to a Liam Newton header after 67 minutes.
Rovers passed up a hatful of chances and the Fifers had goalkeeper Alan Fleming to thank for some outstanding saves to deny Kieran Dolan and Charlie Reilly during the contest.
The visitors could have had no complaints if Rovers had ran out winners by a few goals.
But Rovers are now the only side in the table yet to get off the mark, sitting two points adrift of nearest rivals Elgin City.
And frustrated Reid - whose side lost to Celtic B in the SPFL Trust Trophy in midweek - warned his side must turn things around after they made it 14 games without a home win in all competitions.
He said: "It's double figures in terms of good chances we had today and they are not even half chances, some of them are six-yards away.
"You have to put these in the net.
"What can you do as a manager or a coach? You can't run on and throw it in the net.
"It's frustrating for everybody.
"The players are obviously not trying to miss, but when you are dominating games, goals change games and if we can get them, belief and confidence will break through the team.
"At the moment, it's not happening for us and there is a nervousness there. That's natural in football.
"But it's a smash and grab in the second half from East Fife.
"My goalkeeper has had one save to make in the whole game and the other thing he has done is pick the ball out of the net.
"That's got to change because we really have to start putting teams away when we are on top.
"It's been like that in the all of the first three games.
"We could be sitting here with nine points, but instead we are sitting here with zero.
"It's difficult to take but we need to stick together and it's my job as manager to get the confidence back so we can turn this round.
"It's just a bit of composure and confidence we are missing.
"We've got a chance six yards out, the goalie is lying on his back, there's an empty net and we sclaff it off the post.
"It's hard to figure out how to sort that.
"The players need to take a bit of responsibility, get in better positions and take the chances.
"We are playing well but it is getting to the stage I'd rather not play well and win games, so we have something to build on.
"The number of clear cut chances we had today is even more than we had in the previous two game.
"An absolute smash and grab has cost us. We need to pick ourselves for next week now."
Rovers haven't picked up three points in Coatbridge since Boxing Day last year.
And on their winless run at Cliftonhill, Reid added: "It's something we've got to rectify.
"We've won games here previously and gone on a wee run and that's what we need to do again.
"Winning our home games is important. We are away next week to Bonnyrigg but there's no reason we can't go there and win that one."
