London’s first Albert’s Schloss “bier palace” is set to bring a taste of the Alps to the heart of the West End’s theatreland.
The brand’s operator, Mission Mars, said it will give the Jungle Cave site on Shaftesbury Avenue, formerly Rainforest Café, a “bohemian makeover” for the concept, known for cabaret and dishes such as fondue and Tyrolean schnitzel.
It will be the fourth Albert’s Schloss branch in the UK and the first in London.
Roy Ellis, chief executive of Mission Mars, said: “It’s a stunning 18,000sq ft space in the famous Trocadero in the heart of the West End.”
He said there will be more than 500 covers for Cook Haus dining, four bars more than 45 metres in length, and a stage. The venue will create 200 jobs once it opens next spring.
Letting agent P-Three said the deal was with landlord Criterion Capital.
Thomas Rose, co-founder of P-Three said: “By making their London debut with Criterion Capital, Albert’s Schloss highlight the strength and appeal of the West End, which continues to attract and deliver the very best of leisure and food and beverage.”
Mission Mars said its brand was created to honour Prince Albert, Queen Victoria’s husband “who championed truth, beauty, freedom and love”.
The company added: “Albert’s Schloss celebrates the beloved Prince’s values.”
