A South West accountancy practice with offices in Somerset, Bristol and Dorset has been named the best accountants to work for in the country.
Albert Goodman was recognised by workplace culture organisation Best Companies, which evaluates employee surveys to draw up the rankings. The announcement was made at a Best Companies live event on May 20 by TV and sports presenter Dan Walker.
Albert Goodman also retained its two-star accreditation as an outstanding place to work and was named the 17th best firm to work for overall in the South West, moving up 18 positions from its 2021 ranking.
Sarah Bowden, head of HR and recruitment at Albert Goodman, said receiving the recognition was a "standout moment" for the firm, which has offices in Taunton, Bristol, Yeovil, Weymouth and Weston-super-Mare.
"We are delighted with the results from Best Companies this year. People are at the heart of our business and employee engagement for us is paramount to the success of our firm," she said.
“We constantly review measures to encourage employees to have a good work-life balance and are pleased that employees enjoy working within their teams and can see that we support personal growth by creating opportunities for employees to have the career they aspire to."
Albert Goodman founded the practice in Hammet Street, Taunton, in the late 1800s. He was one of the very first members of the ICAEW. The firm of chartered accountants, tax advisors and financial planners now has a £15m turnover and employs 300 people across the West Country.
The business has a team of partners with a 56% to 44% female-to-male split, whose specialisms include audit and accounts; business support services; business recovery and insolvency; family business, corporate and personal tax; corporate and personal financial planning and advice; accounting software and support; litigation support; payroll bureau; and VAT services in a variety of sectors.
