Australia's foreign affairs department has lashed a decision to hit Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu with an international arrest warrant over war crimes allegations in Gaza.

Evidence shows reasonable grounds to believe three top Hamas commanders committed war crimes following its attack against Israel, according to International Criminal Court's chief prosecutor Karim Khan.
