A CHARITY set up in memory of one of Scotland’s greatest authors has expressed its disappointment after his name was left out of a trailer advertising a film adaptation of one of his novels.
The trailer for the upcoming feature film Poor Things, which is adapted from Alasdair Gray’s 1992 novel of the same name, neglects to mention the original author.
The Alasdair Gray Archive, a charity set up to manage the estate of the late author, said it was “so disappointed” that Gray had not been mentioned in the trailer, adding: “Sadly, we aren’t involved and have no agency within this”.
But the charity’s Twitter account added it was interested in organising a screening of the film, starring Emma Stone, Mark Ruffalo and Willem Dafoe, when it is released.

They added: “Hoping we can at least organise a Glasgow screening so we can all watch it together, then discuss in the pub after.”
The film is slated for release later this year and is directed by acclaimed Greek director Yorgos Lanthimos, best known for his recent picture The Favourite starring Olivia Colman.
The film’s production company Element Pictures was approached for comment.
