Rare is the day you’ll see gardening legend Alan Titchmarsh cry and yet, that’s what happened on the latest episode of ITV’s Love Your Garden. The 74-year-old, who has been appearing on our screens since the early ‘80s, teared up after discovering that a member of the family he’d been helping is one of the youngest people in the UK to be diagnosed with Alzheimer’s disease.
In Tuesday’s, June 27 episode Alan travelled to Nottinghamshire where he met Daniel Bradbury, 32, and the rest of his family including his two kids. Daniel lives with Alzheimer’s disease.
Alan told the rest of his team while he was planning the garden space: "The other thing we must remember while we're doing this is that Daniel was a landscape gardener when he was diagnosed. He's one of ours isn't he?” He was then overcome with emotion and began to tear up.

Alan continued: "We'll do him proud. As one man of soil to another, I'm determined to give Daniel and his family a garden to be proud of." Did you get upset at the tear-jerking moment? Let us know in the comments.
Yorkshire Live reports how the team got to work, turning the huge garden full of weeds and dry grass into a haven with figure-of-eight paths, trees, bushes, wildflowers, a garden room and a dining area, complete with pergola cover, working kitchen and a table and chairs.
Daniel thanked the team for their work and Alan then introduced Daniel to "Dad's apple tree". He was then invited to place the final spade full of soil on to say he "helped plant it", so that it would always be there for his kids.
Viewers at home were clearly moved by the episode. One person said on social media: "Beautiful, just beautiful. Such a touching story."
A second added: "Dad's apple tree got me [crying emoji]" And a third wrote: "Aww, Daniel and Jordan. I'm not crying.” Love Your Garden is available now on ITV Hub and for more showbiz and television stories get our newsletter here.
