Alan Szelugowski, 17, died after being stabbed in the back, inquest hears

A 17-year-old boy killed in a Salford park was stabbed in the back, an inquest has heard.

Alan Szelugowski was found unresponsive in Clowes Park, on January 30.

An inquest into his death opened at Bolton Coroners Court last Thursday (February 17) and the court heart that the incident took place less than a month after Alan's 17th birthday.

Police coroners officer Julieann Hyde told the hearing: "On 30 January, Alan Sylwester Szelugowski was found unresponsive and not breathing in Clowes Park, Salford.

"Police attended with paramedics and it was quickly discovered that he had an apparent stab wound in his back.

"His death was diagnosed at the scene by paramedics. "

Ms Hyde confirmed that Alan was identified by his fingerprints, compared against those already in GMP's records.

Two post mortems were carried out on Alan's body - one by Dr Carter from Royal Oldham Hospital and the other by Home Office pathologist Dr Robinson.

Area coroner for Manchester West, Dr Alan Walsh confirmed that the provisional cause of death is 'multiple stab wounds'.

Earlier this month, GMP confirmed that three teenage boys - one aged 15 and two aged 16 - had been arrested on suspicion of murder. They have since been released on bail.

Dr Walsh adjourned the inquest indefinitely, while a murder investigation into Alan's death takes place.
