Alan Shearer was left far from happy after Brentford were awarded a penalty in the final moments of the first half in their clash against Newcastle. Toon striker Alexander Isak was adjudged to have fouled Rico Henry, and Ivan Toney put the ball home from the spot to send Brentford into the interval one-nil up.
The decision to reward Brentford a spot-kick came about after video assistant referee Darren England instructed the on-field ref, Christopher Kavanagh to go to the pitchside monitor. Kavanagh took a look at several replays before pointing to the spot. It seemed to take an eternity for the officials to make a decision for what appeared very limited contact.
Toon legend Shearer slammed the decision: "Never ever clear and obvious. Another long wait. Having said that it’s s*** decision, Newcastle have been poor in that first half also."

Toney had earlier seen a goal ruled out for offside having tapped home from two yards but was ruled offside, and the former Newcastle striker then missed a penalty with Nick Pope saving.
Newcastle had failed to start the game in their usual quick fashion and didn't register a single shot on goal in the first half. Such was the performance in the opening 45 minutes, Toon boss Eddie Howe made two substitutions at half-time. He brought on Callum Wilson and Anthony Gordon for Sean Longstaff and Jacob Murphy.
Newcastle grabbed an earlier equaliser in the second half as Joelinton's effort was deflected in by Brentford keeper David Raya. Alexander Isak then grabbed the winner.
Speaking about Toney's decision to take the second spot-kick, Dion Dublin speaking to BBC's Final Score said: "Ivan Toney is a brave footballer, he is brave in how he takes his penalties.
"The penalty is more or less exactly the same except it’s a yard higher. To do that is brave."
