Liverpool have been told by a former Premier League striker why they can have mixed emotions after their achievements last season.
The Reds finished the campaign with two major trophies under their belt. Jurgen Klopp’s side picked up the FA Cup and Carabao Cup, but there was plenty of talk in the latter half of the season over an unprecedented quadruple.
However, it wasn’t to be as Liverpool missed out on both the Premier League title and the Champions League final. The latter of those finished in a 1-0 defeat to Real Madrid in Paris on Saturday night.

Despite the recent disappointment, Alan Shearer believes that Liverpool can still be proud of what they achieved. But the former Newcastle United striker did admit that the losses in the title race and Champions League final will “hurt a lot”.
Speaking on BBC Radio 5 Live’s Football Daily, Shearer said: “It hurts and it hurts a lot.
“To have the disappointment of losing out in the league, despite performing so well, and then to have this disappointment also.
“As much as it hurts, after the season they have had – bringing two trophies back to Anfield – they can still be very proud of what they have achieved.”
