Alan Shearer has named four Newcastle United stars in his Premier League Team of the Week following the draw with Manchester City. Eddie Howe's side held their own in an enthralling encounter with the reigning champions at St James' Park on Sunday.
Kieran Trippier's stunning second-half free-kick had put the Magpies two goals clear, but City clearly pulled themselves level with goals from Erling Haaland and Bernardo Silva. The visitors pushed for a late winner, but Newcastle held on to preserve their unbeaten start to the season.
It was a performance which earned widespread praise from fans and commentators alike, and this was reflected in Shearer's team of the week picks. Miguel Almiron, Nick Pope, Allan Saint-Maximin and Trippier were all named in the division's best eleven.
