Newcastle United players dominate Alan Shearer’s Premier League team of the week after the thrilling 4-0 win against Aston Villa. Another impressive top-flight performance led the Magpies’ all-time leading goalscorer to litter his line-up with Toon stars.
Kieran Trippier, Joelinton, Miguel Almiron and Callum Wilson made the cut after helping Newcastle destroy Villa at St James’ Park. The win kept Eddie Howe’s side in fourth spot and further ignited hopes of a potential push for Europe.
Elsewhere in the line-up, Shearer selected three Arsenal players following their 5-0 rout over Nottingham Forest. William Saliba, Thomas Partey and Reiss Nelson were selected, with the latter bagging twice on his first league appearance of the campaign.

Manchester City talisman Kevin De Bruyne and Leeds United goalkeeper Ilan Meslier also made the team for their heroics over the weekend. On the Premier League website, Shearer lauded Trippier and England’s best right-back while casting his vote for Almiron as player of the month.
"Another assist (for Trippier),” he wrote. “Another solid performance in front of Gareth Southgate by England’s best right-back. (Almiron) has scored six goals this month, the same as Erling Haaland. This latest one was another cracker - player of the month."
