Alan Shearer has hailed Newcastle United's 3-0 away win over Leicester City as "a great performance" in what was the Magpies return to action in the Premier League.
It took Newcastle just three minutes to open the scoring through striker Chris Wood, who fired a penalty past Leicester keeper Danny Ward after Joelinton had won the spot-kick.
Then, just five minutes later, Newcastle doubled their lead through Miguel Almiron who scored his ninth goal of the Premier League season.

After passing the ball inside to Bruno Guimaraes, the Paraguayan ran through the heart of the Leicester defence, getting onto the end of a threaded ball by the Brazilian midfielder to slot home past Ward.
And just after the half hour mark, Joelinton added a third for Newcastle with a bullet header to effectively end the game.
While the second half was more muted, Newcastle's first half performance was ultimately so good that it put the game to bed in the Magpies Premier League return.
It was the best restart Newcastle could have asked for, with the Magpies having now moved up to second in the Premier League following their rampant 3-0 win.
And a delighted Shearer could barely contain his delight in the aftermath of the result, before asking Match of the Day host Gary Lineker what time Newcastle would be on the BBC programme.
Shearer tweeted: "That’s three points for the Toon and 3 goals and a clean sheet. What a great performance. Should be a good @BBCMOTD! What time we on @GaryLineker? TOON TOON"
