Alan Shearer agrees with Jamie Carragher as Nottingham Forest trio praised

Legendary Premier League striker Alan Shearer has named two Nottingham Forest players in his team of the week.

Shearer also included head coach Steve Cooper as his manager of the week after the Reds beat Liverpool 1-0 over the weekend. Cooper has been duly praised for his tactical changes that preceded the result.

The likes of Jamie Carragher have been weighing in on that front, too. Shearer agrees with the former Liverpool defender, writing that "his (Cooper's) changed tactics are working brilliantly at the minute."

There was also space in Shearer's team of the week for goalkeeper Dean Henderson and striker Taiwo Awoniyi. Henderson pulled off a string of impressive saves, including one crucial stop towards the end of the match, while Awoniyi scored the only goal of the game against his former club.

On Henderson, Shearer wrote: "A couple of good saves and one great stop to keep his clean sheet and earn a memorable win over Liverpool." On Awoniyi, he added: "It's not every day you score the winner against Liverpool!"

There is a strong argument to be had that Ryan Yates should have been included by Shearer in the team of the week. The academy graduate put in a superb display against Liverpool, but Man United's Casemiro and Leicester City's Youri Tielemans got the nod ahead of him on this occasion.
