Alan Carr has revealed how he thinks he will die and what he would like for his funeral, including getting friend Gok Wan to DJ at his 90s rave-themed wake.
The comedian, 46, has clearly put a lot of thought into his demise as he discussed the subject with Kathy Burke on the latest episode of her Where There’s A Will, There’s A Wake podcast.
Asked by Burke how he thinks he will go, the former Chatty Man host replied: “I’ve always wanted respect and I never get respect. I’m gonna be one of those pub quiz deaths. You know, like Rod Hull, when he went to change the satellite dish, and got blown off off the roof.
“But I think that’s what’s gonna happen to me. I’d like die in my sleep, but I think I’m just gonna end up a pub quiz question,” he continued.
Adding: “It’s gonna be like, my kimono will get caught in a shredder. Do you know what I mean? I’ll trip over something, hit my head on a dildo or summit like that.”
He has already decided that he would like a Viking-style funeral where he’s “put on a raft and set on fire and then pushed out to sea in Northampton,” which will be soundtracked by Adele’s Set Fire To The Rain.
And while he anticipates his send off to be a sombre affair, he wants the wake to be a full on 90s rave.
He explained: “I love a party. I want people to have, I said deep mourning for the funeral, then you whip off the veil and you got I want nineties rave.
Adding: “I want Insomnia, can’t get any sleep and all that.”
Drawn on guestlist, he said: “I’d invite all of RuPaul’s Drag Race. I’d invite RuPaul, Michelle Visage, you know, get some drag queens down there. They bring the fun. Oh, Gok Wan, I’m friends with Gok. He can do the DJ in because he DJs now.”
Surprised at Wan’s branching out, Burke was keen to know more, asking: “Does he? What does, What does he not do?”
“I know he does everything,” Carr replied and promised should she outlive him that Burke would be welcome to attend.
