Alan Carr has recalled how he was fat-shamed by a personal trainer in his gym.
The comedian, 47, admitted he felt “triggered” after he was called “fatty” by the fitness specialist as he recounted the incident on his podcast, Life’s A Beach.
He began: “I went to quite a famous one and I didn’t like the way she talked to me.”
Carr went on to explain that he believes the trainer had got a warning over her after she told him “Come on fatty!”
The TV presenter said that the next time he visited the gym the fitness trainer had changed her tone and told him: “Oh, you know, Alan, have a breather if you want.”
However, it appeared as though the damage was done as he admitted: “It was triggering. It was like I was back in the playground.
“People don’t believe I have a personal trainer because I’m fat.”
In 2020, Carr revealed his BFF Adele inspired him to overhaul his lifestyle and focus on his health following her weight loss transformation.
Yet the following year, the TV star admitted that he had gained three stone during the first two national lockdowns by eating too much banana bread.
He admitted that being unable to fit into his coats motivated his health kick for the third lockdown.
Speaking to Heat Magazine, Carr said: “For lockdown three, I’m losing weight and I’m not going to eat banana bread and I’m going to do one bit of walking a day.
“I was shocked you could do one bit of exercise. I was like ‘Damn!’ I mean, it’s getting to the point I don’t even fit in coats anymore – my anorak looks like a crop top.”
Elsewhere, Carr sparked romance speculation last month – almost two years after he split from husband Paul Drayton.
The star is believed to be dating hairstylist Callum Heslop, 27, who first appeared on Carr’s social media as they attended Mariah Carey’s Christmas concert in Los Angeles.
According to The Sun, their relationship is alleged to be going from strength to strength as Heslop flew across the pond to accompany Carr on the US leg of his Regional Trinket comedy tour – and has even hung out with the TV star’s close friend Adele.
A source told the outlet: “They have a really nice friendship and that has been the base for a relationship to blossom.
“He meets celebs through his job, so isn’t fazed. It takes a lot to introduce a partner to someone as famous as Adele, but she couldn’t have been friendlier.”
